Eco-Friendly Rust Manor House Wedding | Leesburg, VA | Megan and Ryan (and Mina)
This rainy day Rust Manor House wedding was absolutely perfect. With a beautiful happy couple, lots of eco-friendly details, and the sweetest Dog of Honor, you can’t go wrong! I knew Megan and Ryan weren’t going to be fazed by a little bit of rain on their wedding day. When we went hiking in Shenandoah for their engagement session, it rained on us then too - but they were total troopers on both days!
Just minutes before their ceremony was scheduled to begin, it was absolutely pouring. We actually were all set up to do the ceremony on Rust Manor House’s covered porch! But Megan was determined to get married in the courtyard, so everyone grabbed umbrellas and made the walk down to the giant tree. Mother Nature was definitely looking out for these two, because the rain suddenly lightened up and the tree canopy provided enough cover that umbrellas weren’t even needed anymore!
Since Ryan and Megan both love the outdoors, it was important to them to make their wedding as sustainable as possible. Their rings are from a sustainable jeweler (Brilliant Earth) featuring conflict-free diamonds, recycled gold, and a beautiful leaf design on Megan’s engagement ring. All of the centerpieces and place cards/favors were living plants, so that guests could take them home afterward. The centerpieces also featured wood slabs taken from an oak tree that fell on Megan and Ryan’s house earlier this year! (Talk about making the best of a bad situation!) And Megan’s gorgeous bridal bouquet was actually made of sola wood flowers – created out of shavings from tree bark!
These two are also big Star Wars fans, so they found little ways to incorporate that into their wedding day. You’ve got to check out their Star Wars cake topper (which features their dog Mina too!) and they had fun light sabers and storm trooper masks for their photo booth. Their love for all things Star Wars (and Marvel) came up a lot during the toasts too! It’s so special when couples personalize all the aspects of their wedding day, and Megan and Ryan definitely did an amazing job of that.
Thank you Ryan and Megan for letting me be a part of your big day!
