A Royalty-Inspired Engagement at Great Marsh Estate in Bealeton, Virginia
The first engagement session of the year is in the books! Cat and Gustavo were the perfect couple to kick off the season for me. We faced some weather difficulties with rainy days, but a bit of schedule rearranging allowed us to shoot on a gorgeous 80-degree day in February! We seriously could not have asked for a more beautiful day.
Before choosing a location, Cat had mentioned that they were looking to do their engagement pictures somewhere elegant but rustic. So Great Marsh Estate was the ideal venue for them! Located just down the street from me in Bealeton, Virginia, this stunning manor house and surrounding grounds were exactly the look these two wanted.
Gustavo's four-year-old daughter Ava came along for the photos too, and she was such a doll! Spending so much time smiling for the camera is not an easy feat for any kid, and she was a total trooper.
Cat told me she got the inspiration for their engagement session outfits from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement photos - and these two totally nailed it! With the blue suit and gorgeous dress, they absolutely looked like royalty. So we just had to recreate the pose of Harry and Meghan on the steps!
The tree-lined path at Great Marsh is such an amazing spot for photos. I just love the framing.
And it's also the perfect walkway for kid-swinging, so I think Ava liked it too!
This one might be my favorite - gotta love that candid laughter!
As the sun started to go down, we got to enjoy that beautiful golden hour light!
