Belle Isle and Richmond Canal Walk Engagement | Richmond, VA | Meagan and Tyler
This was my first time shooting an engagement session in Richmond and I couldn’t have picked a better couple to explore the city with! Meagan and Tyler actually started their relationship long distance – with Meagan in Richmond and Tyler in Baltimore. And anyone familiar with 95 can attest to what that drive can be like with traffic! Thankfully Tyler has since relocated down to Richmond, and is loving his new city. One of their favorite things to do here is spend time by the water, so strolling along the Canal Walk and Belle Isle was a great way to capture these two in their element.
Meagan and I have been Instagram friends since they booked me for their wedding, and even though we hadn’t met in person before their engagement photos, it felt like we were old friends! Her bubbly personality shines through her social media account and if you are looking for some fitness inspiration, go check her out! Also, just look at her arms in these photos - girl is ripped!
Before walking along the canal, we started the session with pictures by some super cool and colorful murals! I love everything with bright colors, and these ones are amazing. I think the owl is my favorite!
For a beautiful summer evening, I was surprised we had the Canal Walk completely to ourselves! Minus that one canal cruise boat where all the passengers got to watch Meagan and Tyler practice their dip :)
As we crossed the pedestrian bridge over the James River to get to Belle Isle, we found where all the people were! This is definitely a popular hangout spot for Richmonders and it’s easy to see why. The river is just beautiful!
These guys were completely cracking each other up the whole time we were together. One example, my “play with your hair” instruction to Meagan was something Tyler figured he try too!
These Belle Isle rocks are amazing! I’m so glad the James River water level was relatively low - exposing more rocks and giving us tons of space to ourselves even with all the other people around.
And before it got too dark, we grabbed one last picture with the Richmond skyline as we walked back across the river!
