Sunrise Engagement on Skyline Drive | Luray, VA | Kirsten and Luke (and Archie)
I loved hanging out with Kirsten and Luke (and their adorable dog Archie) for their sunrise engagement session on Skyline Drive. Spending time in Shenandoah National Park during the fall is always a good idea!
I’ve done plenty of chilly engagement shoots (including ones in the snow), but I think this was the coldest one yet. It was not only the freezing temperatures that we faced, but there were also the crazy mountain winds whipping around! But Kirsten and Luke were total troopers, and didn’t complain once. They love hiking and anything outdoors, so I think they are used to braving the elements!

This was actually my first time photographing a corgi, and Archie brought his A game. He has the cutest puppy dog eyes begging for those treats!
Don’t these trees look like they’re on fire?! As the sun came up over the horizon, the glow on the fall leaves was just gorgeous. There were actually quite a few other people catching the sunrise at this overlook with us, and I can see why! Shenandoah never disappoints.
We drove down Skyline Drive and stopped at the next overlook, on the west side this time. Being on the shady side of the mountains felt even colder, but was a perfect excuse for Luke and Kirsten to cuddle up nice and close!
We took a short hike down the Appalachian Trail to capture some photos in the woods. Archie coordinated his outfit perfectly for the fall leaves covering the ground haha.
Look at those happy faces! You can’t even tell they’re completely frozen haha.
Gotta love a good Simba pose with your pup 😂
Can’t wait for their fall wedding next year!
