Library of Congress and U.S. Capitol Engagement Photos | Washington, DC | Emily and Chris
Don’t let the blog title fool you - Chris and Emily’s engagement photos weren’t just at the Library of Congress and the Capitol. We also hit up Eastern Market, my favorite mural, Lincoln Park, and a neighborhood nearby. These two planned it out perfectly to visit all of their favorite spots around their DC neighborhood!
The afternoon started out a little iffy (those darn thunderstorms that always seem to be in the forecast lately!), but we ended up with PERFECT weather and the clouds gave us the most gorgeous, soft lighting. This was actually my first time photographing at the Library of Congress, and I can’t wait to go back. The staircase, the columns, the intricate lamp posts - everything is so beautiful!
I love how the wind is blowing Emily’s hair back like a supermodel in every picture.
This tray is a souvenir from their proposal! Chris proposed to Emily at Fallingwater, the Frank Lloyd Wright house up in Pennsylvania, and they bought the tray while they were up there. Such a cute prop to include in their engagement pictures!
After the Library of Congress, we made the short walk across First Street to get some photos in front of the Capitol Building.
After the Capitol, we made our way over to Eastern Market and Emily brought along the cutest sunflower bouquet. On the trip to PA before Chris proposed, they had actually stopped at a sunflower field, so these flowers have special meaning to them!
This is definitely my favorite mural in DC. I love the colors in it, and the extra pop of color from Chris and Emily’s outfits was just perfect!
Next stop: Lincoln Park. We had to get some photos with green in them for this outdoorsy couple! Emily and Chris are big nature lovers - Emily works for an environmental advocacy organization, and they are planning an eco-friendly wedding this fall at Rust Manor House (another place with lots of green!)
What better way to end the night than dancing under the string lights?!
