Scott's Run Nature Preserve Engagement Session | McLean, VA | Lauren and Sam

Hiking at Scott’s Run Nature Preserve for Lauren and Sam’s engagement session was the perfect way to spend a summer morning. Scott’s Run is definitely one of my favorite parks in Northern Virginia - you wouldn’t expect this beautiful little forest and miles of hiking trails to be just outside of the beltway! We had the whole park to ourselves on a weekday, so we had tons of time and space to find all the pretty spots (and there are lots of them). There was quite a bit of rock scrambling involved to get to some of the more difficult locations, but Sam and Lauren totally crushed it, even in their fancy clothes!

This was actually one of Lauren and Sam’s last adventures in Northern Virginia for awhile - because they just moved to Scotland! Lauren got into grad school in Edinburgh, so now all their hiking photos are going to have castles in the background haha. But I’m so glad we were able to capture their engagement pictures here in Virginia before they left!

All the green ❤️️❤️️❤️️ Sam and Lauren wanted to make sure we highlighted Virginia’s natural beauty in their pictures, and we definitely did that!

The last time I did engagement photos at Scott’s Run, the Potomac River had risen so high the waterfall was actually gone. Thankfully the river was low for Lauren and Sam, so they got lots of waterfall pictures!

Don’t you just love Lauren’s engagement ring?!
