Smith Mountain Lake Wedding | Huddleston, VA | Matt and Emily
I absolutely loved traveling down to Smith Mountain Lake in southern Virginia for this gorgeous summer wedding!
Matt and Emily are currently living in Colombia, but they made the trip back to the States to celebrate their big day with their closest friends and family. The location on Smith Mountain Lake was extra special - Emily’s grandparents had a house on the lake where Emily spent many summers growing up! And the next door neighbors had this amazing multi-level dock that was just perfect to hold a wedding ceremony and reception.
This dock seriously seemed MADE for wedding ceremonies! It was the perfect size to fit all of the guests, and I loved the long aisle for Emily and Matt to make an entrance. The entire dock was lined with beautiful flowers from Petal and Pail - just such a gorgeous setup!
And the view of Smith Mountain Lake doesn’t get much better than this.
There was SO much laughter during this ceremony!
I am always on board with bringing bubbles to your wedding. After bubbles were some really great toasts with lots of laughter and tears!
Such a fun group of wedding guests!
After photos on the dock, we walked along the edge of lake over to Emily’s family’s property.
And this is one of the more eventful bridal portraits I’ve ever taken. These beautiful daisies came along with a ground bee nest that I unknowingly stepped on, leading to roughly a million bees chasing me and stinging me 😂 WORTH IT though, I love how these photos came out!
The mountain and lake views here are what every photographer dreams of!
And the evening ended with a reception on the lower dock. Matt and Emily could not have asked for a more perfect day, and I will definitely be making the trip back to Smith Mountain Lake again for vacation!
