Shenandoah Winter Engagement | Luray, VA | Sofia and Julian (and Gia)

We had a gorgeous day for Sofia and Julian’s January engagement session in Shenandoah National Park! We knew it was going to be cold up in the mountains, and we definitely got lucky with the sunshine for some added warmth. (Although sunshine only helps a little bit when it’s 30 degrees haha).

You would never know that these two are originally from Puerto Rico and Miami with the way they handled the winter weather! My Western New Yorker self (who normally laughs at Southerners in the cold) was bundled up in my warmest attire, while Julian was in short sleeves and Sofia was in a sleeveless dress and open-toed shoes. These two braved the cold temperatures like champs! And with big smiles on their faces the entire time.

Their adorable dog Gia looked so fashionable in her cute winter sweater that coordinated with Sofia’s dress!

This is where the real cold set in. The sun dropped down behind the mountains when we arrived at the next overlook, dropping the temperature by several degrees. Still nothing but smiles from these two though!

I always ask couples if they’re comfortable doing poses with lifts (since not everyone is) and I try to take them quickly since I know it can be tough. But Julian was just like “nah I got this” and proceeded to carry Sofia across all the jagged rocks like it was nothing haha.
