Winter Engagement Pictures in Shenandoah National Park | Luray, VA | Molly and Thomas
It was definitely chilly, but these winter engagement photos in Shenandoah National Park at Stony Man Mountain were totally worth it! Molly and Thomas met in Wisconsin and Thomas is from Germany, so a Virginia winter session in the mountains was nothing - a little bit of snow and cold wasn’t going to scare them.
Molly and Thomas love hiking and adventuring together, so Shenandoah was the perfect spot. They decided to do an extra long engagement session and I’m so glad they did. We were able to get to multiple spots and got so much variety in their photos! We started in the bright afternoon sun at an overlook, followed by the white, snowy trails as we hiked up Stony Man, and then got golden hour sunset photos on the mountaintop.

It was just a little bit windy that day 😂 But luckily we still managed to get plenty of photos with hair under control.
After the overlook, it was hiking time! The trail to Stony Man Mountain was covered in snow and we had it completely to ourselves. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the parking lot for this popular trail totally empty before! It’s definitely one of the benefits to a winter engagement shoot.
I always feel a little bit guilty during winter engagement sessions when I tell people to put their cold hands on each other’s faces haha! But Thomas and Molly were total champs and happy to get cuddly regardless.
And we made it to the top of Stony Man just in time for sunset!
It was such a fun adventure with these two and I’m so glad the day ended with the perfect sunset!
