Constitution Gardens Surprise Proposal | Washington, DC | MJ and Haley
This was my first surprise proposal at Constitution Gardens, and I am loving this view! It’s so much quieter than the rest of the National Mall, and the pond and Washington Monument made a great backdrop for this special moment.
MJ had a creative cover story - he told Haley that he’d read online about a really cool (totally made up) spring equinox sunset that’s visible from Constitution Gardens 😂 So they had to get out on the island at a very specific time so they wouldn’t miss it! Luckily Haley didn’t question it or try to Google anything about it herself because it was definitely not real haha. These two go on lots of adventures together in DC, so Haley just wrote it off as another one of MJ’s fun ideas!
I love this willow tree! It was an added bonus to the already pretty view on the island.
How cute is Haley’s outfit?? And she didn’t even know she was getting her pictures taken that day!
MJ and Haley have lived in DC for a year and a half, and will likely move back to their home state of Louisiana later this year, so I’m very glad they got to capture some iconic DC locations in their photos!
We totally lucked out that the Lincoln and Reflecting Pool weren’t even that busy! It was a beautiful spring evening, but there was a slight rain chance that I think kept the bigger crowds away.
We finished their session at the back of the Lincoln Memorial (along with a crowd of other people), looking out over the Potomac for a view of the sunset. The regular, normal sunset that was not any kind of special equinox sight 😂 It was the perfect way to wrap up the night!
